The Johnson’s innovatively shifted the education spectrum to promote inclusivity.

LBJ-Founded Organization Championed 1968 Education Rights

  • As the children’s education rights legacy initiated by President LBJ and Lady Bird Johnson, Stonewall Head Start, Inc. (SHS, Inc.) notably served as the area’s first-ever support network over fifty years ago to oversee a child’s full pre-primary education from start to finish, in that the Johnson’s pioneered an equal opportunity preschool program through our organization that allowed access for the first time to essential services to families who previously had no access, which supported continued enrollment and early development stability.

The Johnson’s innovatively shifted the education spectrum to promote inclusivity — seeing education as an inherent right to children, no matter of background, nationality, color, race, religion or disability.

Our ceaseless dedication towards preserving the altruistic mission of our founders, is evidenced in the quality we put forth to remain a top-choice, accredited education facility in the Texas Hill Country - the heart of LBJ Country - in accordance with the ever-changing modern educational landscape.
